How to play Obi-Wan Kenobi
Obi-Wan is the Light Side's taunt tank. The question new players ask most is whether to play him aggressively like Anakin or defensively. The answer is in his kit: he is a defensive leader who makes your units the aggressive part. Here's why, with the numbers from the game files.
At a glance
| Side and era | Light Side · Galactic Republic |
|---|---|
| Type | Organic · Melee |
| Health (level 1) | 1,331 |
| Attack (level 1) | 70 |
| Max level | 8 (every perk is open by level 7) |
| Unique card | Commander Cody · 5 energy |
| Skill | Hello There, 32 second cooldown |
| Passive | Lightsaber Defense |
| Bonus | Reflects blaster fire while standing still |
His kit, explained
- Skill: Hello There (32 second cooldown). Obi-Wan taunts nearby enemy leaders and units for up to 3 seconds, forcing them to attack him. While taunting he has a 25% chance to block melee attacks and reflect blaster fire. Tap the skill again during the taunt and he Force pushes everyone back, dealing damage equal to 300% of his Attack Power.
- Passive: Lightsaber Defense. When Obi-Wan drops below 40% health, all damage he takes is reduced by 40%. He gets harder to kill exactly when the enemy thinks he is dying.
- Standing still matters. Obi-Wan reflects blaster fire when he isn't moving. Plant him in front of your turret or your push and let ranged units shoot into him.
- So, aggressive or defensive? Defensive with the leader, aggressive with the units. Obi-Wan holds the fight and pulls fire, while your clones and Commander Cody do the killing.
Perks and when they unlock
Perks unlock as the leader levels up and cost Perk Points and Credits. Leaders max out at level 8, and the fifth perk needs level 7, which is why so few players have seen a fully perked leader yet.
| Perk | Unlocks at | What it does | Perk Points | Credits |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Level 1 | Increases Health by 7%. More health makes the 40% threshold last longer. | 1,000 | 6,000 |
| 2 | Level 3 | Increases Attack Power by 8%. More damage on his attacks and his push. | 3,450 | 10,000 |
| 3 | Level 4 | Inflicts a 25% Attack Speed decrease effect on provoked enemies. Taunted enemies also attack 25% slower. Huge for holding a lane. | 8,500 | 16,000 |
| 4 | Level 5 | Increases Beam Reflection Rate and Hit Rate by 12%. Blocks and reflects more often during the taunt. | 16,000 | 32,000 |
| 5 | Level 7 | Increases damage reduction by 20% when health falls below 15%. Below 15% health he takes an extra 20% less damage. Almost impossible to finish. | 31,750 | 136,000 |
| All five perks | 60,700 | 200,000 | ||
Game plan
- Taunt into your turret. The best taunt is at your own turret, where enemy units forced onto Obi-Wan also eat turret fire.
- Push, then taunt. On offense, walk in behind your clones, taunt when the enemy defends, and let your units hit the distracted defenders.
- Split the lanes. A tested community approach: send a bunch of units to one side and Commander Cody to the other. Cody can take a turret by himself while Obi-Wan holds the enemy's attention.
- Use the second tap. Don't let the taunt just expire. End it with the push to knock enemies back into your units' fire.
- Don't retreat too early. Below 40% health he takes 40% less damage. Many Obi-Wans survive fights they would have won by staying.
A deck to start with
| Card | Job | Why it is here | |
|---|---|---|---|
![]() | Commander Cody 5 energy, 792 HP | Unique, long-range damage | Shoots from very far and summons rocket clones against buildings, vehicles and heavy units. He can solo a turret. |
![]() | Clone Troopers 3 energy, 177 HP, x4 | Core damage | Four ranged clones for three energy. The army that kills while Obi-Wan taunts. |
![]() | ARC Trooper 2 energy, 291 HP | Cheap damage | Two energy rapid fire. Keeps the average cost down. |
![]() | Riot Clone Troopers 3 energy, 190 HP, x3 | Shielded melee | Don't take damage until their shield breaks. Great beside a taunting Obi-Wan. |
![]() | Republic Attack Gunship 5 energy | Air strike | Missile strike plus a drop of clone troopers. |
![]() | Y-Wing 4 energy | Air strike | Knocks back and wins last-minute turret races. |
![]() | C-10 Stun Grenade 2 energy | Control | Stun the enemy leader you just taunted. |
Community players run Clone Troopers and the Gunship, keep the ARC Trooper at two energy, and skip vehicles because Cody already handles heavy targets. Aim for an average cost under 4.
How to beat Obi-Wan Kenobi
- Don't fight him at his turret. His taunt plus turret fire is his best play. Pull the fight to the middle.
- Burst him from above 40%. Once he is under 40% health he takes 40% less damage. Hit him with your big damage early, not to finish him.
- Wait out the taunt. Three seconds is short. Hold your best cards until it ends, then spend them.
- Use area damage. His clones are low-health swarms. Sandtroopers, TIE Bombers and grenades clear them, and Obi-Wan alone can't kill much.
