What's new in Force Arena Reborn
The Reborn team ships updates fast. Here's a plain-English summary of every major change, newest first, taken from the team's announcements in the official Discord. The guides on this hub are updated to match.
Updating? Download the new version from forcearena.net and install it over the old one. Don't delete the old app first, or you can lose your progress unless your account is linked.
2v2 is live, unranked, in Arcade and Friendly Matches
- Arcade 2 vs 2: tap Special Modes, then Arcade, then Arcade 2 vs 2. Queue with a random partner or a friend.
- Guild Friendly Match: open guild chat, tap Friendly Match and pick 2v2.
- Neither one affects your Rating Points. A ranked 2v2 mode is still under discussion.
- Arcade also has Draft Match 1 vs 1, Energy Boost and All Out War running now.
- New: the Holonet forum. Post your decks in the Deck Vault, find a guild or a 2v2 partner, and talk patches in Patch Talk. Visit the forum.
- New guides for the More menu too: Character Gallery missions pay 100 Crystals each and finished galleries pay 2 Legendary or Unique Wild Cards.
New guides: Special Modes: 2v2, Arcade and single player and Gallery, Pick a Winner and More. Updated: 2v2 team play, Guilds, Starter decks.
Ranked 2v2 and tournaments?
2v2 is already playable, unranked, in Arcade 2 vs 2 and guild Friendly Matches. The team asked players whether to add a ranked 2v2 system and how many would join community tournaments for in-game rewards. Vote in the Discord announcement and tell us what you think in the SWFAR Facebook group.
Fairer matchmaking in the lower tiers
- Matchmaking was adjusted to be fairer, especially in the lower tiers. Expect slightly longer queues and more bot opponents.
- Tier 10 and up still has only a small group of players, so bot matches are more common at the top.
- Sideloadly logins are failing on iPhone after an Apple change. The team's workarounds are on the install page, including switching to AltStore.
Everything opens at Tier 1, weekly seasons, free deck slots
- No more tier lockouts. Arcade, guilds and the other game features are open from Tier 1, and every leader and card is in the pool from Tier 1.
- Extra Credits for every arena win, on top of the existing rewards.
- Ranked seasons reset weekly, every Monday, like the original game.
- All 4 deck slots unlocked for everyone. Players who already bought them are being compensated.
- Guilds hold up to 50 members.
- Foil cards drop 9% of the time, up from 3%.
- 3 foil cards in the shop every week, refreshed Monday, alternating 2 Light and 1 Dark, then 2 Dark and 1 Light.
- Gift for everyone: 1 Wild Card and 3 random leaders, to make up for content that used to be locked.
- The wait before a bot match at the top tiers is now 30 seconds, so top players get more games.
- Mission tracking bugs and a freeze where you couldn't rejoin a match were fixed.
- The team also opened volunteer positions to help grow the game and the community, and set up a way to support the developers in the Discord's buy-me-a-coffee channel. Donating is optional.
Guides updated: Guilds, Upgrades and resources, Main screen tour, 2v2 team play.
iPhone arrives, center turret change, Google accounts
- iOS is out. Install it with a sideloading tool. See the iPhone steps.
- First balance change: the center turret can't be targeted or damaged until one of the side turrets is destroyed. Rushing the middle turret no longer works.
- Google account linking works. Link your account and save your account ID so you never lose progress. This replaces the old TRANSFER coupon as the way to keep your account. Progress from the original game does not carry over; everyone in Reborn started fresh.
- Server battle capacity was expanded, and a bug that left guild matches stuck when the servers were full was fixed.
- Some browsers started flagging the download as the game grew. The team's workaround is on the install page.
Rebuilt assets and single-player modes
- Game assets were rebuilt properly, so reinstall from forcearena.net to get them.
- Single-player modes like Tactical Challenge and Training work again.
- Tier 4 and below still match against bots, and those bots are now weaker. Tier 5 and up waits longer for real players, and bot opponents there are stronger.
- The battle server was updated again to cut down on lag.
Starter packs, more PvP and a smoother server
- Starter packs: every player gets packs with a copy of every unit. Check your in-game inbox and collect them.
- Matchmaking was updated so you get many more player-vs-player matches.
- Server lag fixes removed the 5-second freezes. Players far from the servers may still see a slight delay.
