General Grievous, leader of Grievous Droid ArmyGeneral Grievous skill icon

Grievous Droid Army

Grievous makes every tech unit hit harder and gives them more health, and all six units here are droids, including his own Unique, IG-101 and IG-102. Flood the lane with B1s and Magnaguards, anchor it with the Sentry Droid and Droideka, and let the IG bodyguards leap into the enemy. Simple to play and strong in 2v2.

The deck

Leader skill. Swift Strike: Moves backwards slightly, then dashes towards the enemy and slashes at them dealing area of effect damage equal to X% of Attack Power.
Leadership. Cyborg General: Deployed Tech Units' Attack Power increases by X% and Max Health increases by X%.

Era set bonus: Separatists: 5 of 8 cards, so your energy recharges 5% faster. X values grow with your leader's level and perks.

How it wins

Overwhelm one lane with boosted droids that outnumber and outlast the enemy, then roll into the turret.

Strengths

  • Every droid gets Grievous's attack and health bonus
  • Lots of bodies to soak turret fire
  • Mind tricks and stuns that hit organics do nothing to droids

Weaknesses

  • Ion effects and anti-tech (Chopper, Rex, Ion Mine, Rebel Demolitionist)
  • Splash damage on B1 swarms
  • Only one air strike for burst

3Melee swarmThree sturdy melee droids. Front line for the B1s.
3Tank and knockback705 health; explodes and pushes enemies back when destroyed.
3Tank1,162 health, shoots while moving. The anchor of the push.
4Unique, leaping bruisersGrievous's own Unique. They advance, then leap at the first enemy for area damage. Great against groups and ranged units, and boosted by Cyborg General.
4Shielded shooterRolls in, shields up and fires twin blasters. Hard to kill with blaster fire.
4Air strikeFires at a square area. Use it on clumps or to finish turrets.

Game plan

Opening

First minute

  1. B1s or Magnaguards first to test the lane.
  2. Grievous fights well with droids: stay with your units.
  3. Hold the Gunship for a clump.
Mid game

Win the fights

  1. Sentry Droid in front, Magnaguards beside, B1s behind, then IG-101 & IG-102 once the fight starts.
  2. Swift Strike to dash into a leader or a clump once your droids are engaged.
  3. Droideka when their shooters are focusing your front line.
Late game

2x energy and Sudden Death

  1. 2x energy plus the Separatist energy bonus means constant droids. Pick one lane and flood it.
  2. Gunship finishes turrets in Sudden Death.
  3. Keep producing B1s to absorb turret shots.

Signature combos

8 energy

Grievous dashes in and his bodyguards leap in after him for area damage.

4 energy

Dash and Drop

Swift Strike + Droid Gunship

Matchups

AgainstWhat to do
Anti-tech (Chopper, Rex, Ion Mine, Demolitionist)Spread droids between lanes and send IG-101 & IG-102 at the anti-tech unit first.
Splash decksLead with Magnaguards and Sentry Droid, not B1s.
Organic control (Aphra, Ben, stuns)Your droids ignore it. Push hard.
Ranged back linesIG-101 & IG-102 leap straight onto them.

Swaps: Droid Gunship to B2 Super Battle Droids for more bodies.

Mistakes to avoid

  1. Sending B1s alone into splash.
  2. Using the Gunship on two droids' worth of enemies.
  3. Grievous diving ahead of his droids.

Upgrade order

  1. General Grievous
  2. B1 Battle Droids and Magnaguard
  3. IG-101 & IG-102
  4. Imperial Sentry Droid and Droideka
  5. Probe Droid and Droid Gunship
